Mark Rochester
Mark brings a fresh, contemporary spin to the landscape genre. Working ‘en plein air’ he moves around the Devon countryside to capture its breathtaking scenery. The rugged coastline of North Devon with its falling cliffs encourage vertiginous views, the moorlands - wide sweeping vistas and the gentle valleys and coves - more intimate compositions. As viewer we share a feeling of being in the space, a sensation helped by the freshness and immediacy of his painting style; the light touch of brush and paint and swift graphic marks in pencil.
Mark trained at Central School of Art and has spent 30 years working as a designer for the top flight furnishings companies, Colefax & Fowler, Osborne & Little and Sanderson. He has returned to his hometown of Ilfracombe and shows his work in South West England and in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Mark has exhibited with Hybrid at the Affordable Art Fairs in Bristol and Battersea.
