There is today a desire for perfection; for the improved home and the groomed appearance, now more than ever the ways to achieve a polished facade are at our disposal. But in this pursuit of perfection do we lose a little of our individuality, our vulnerability and our soul?

A Sweet Disorder celebrates our imperfection. Irene Jones paints women beautifully dressed and adorned but depicts too a ripped seam, broken fastening or rumpled collar; her subjects have not striven for the ideal, they are content with their way. With the undone button Irene allows sight of a vibrant inner life where fear and loss feature, sensitivity and love prevail.
