Colette Fowler-Marson
The rugged coastline of North Devon and Somerset inspires Colette’s landscapes. The dramatic rock striations and huge tidal ranges in these vast stretches of coastline shift rapidly in appearance beneath the expanse of sky and Colette seeks to capture these textures, the reflections and light in her work. Most of her painting is done en plein air; braced against the elements she builds up multiple layers of sheer glazes and thick impasto suggesting the scale and atmosphere of the place.
Colette lives in Somerset. She has had her work selected for major open exhibitions including the Royal West of England Academy, the Mall Galleries and the Llewellyn Alexander gallery.
