Maryanne carves beautiful spoons using fresh English hardwood from sustainable sources. Each spoon is designed to be used, and is created using sharp hand tools alone, an axe and some knives.

The simple spoon belies its complex structure, it requires specialist skills to achieve a convincing form. Her bowls are smooth and shallow, handles are strong and cranked and the transition between bowl and handle is carefully designed to deliver both strength and a visual tension.

Maryanne came to spoon carving after having practised other forms of woodwork. She makes from her home in Leicester.
