Louise Marks
Louise’s paintings of koi are small glimpses of fish submerged in the darkness of a pond. Observed and sketched from life they reveal a diversity within a limited subject matter. Her joy comes through in the use of the “delicious buttery qualities of oil” to portray her subject, convey a sense of movement and suggest the cool dark depths of water. Louise also paints exquisite portraits of bees and animals.
Louise was originally from Durham, she now lives and works in Edinburgh where she principally exhibits.
Louise's works take much time to create, as time needs to be allowed for the drying of the oils and varnish. Please register your interest for when a new collection of works come in to the gallery.
