Louise Kelly
Louise recently became a Devon resident, previously she had to escape London to find the scenic inspiration which she now finds on her doorstep. The compelling and diverse land and seascapes of the Jurassic coast are rich with inspiration and energise her work.
Observation is integral to Louise’s practice, sketching and painting plein-air she gathers ideas for composition and colour. An earlier career in illustration informs Louise’s work giving her paintings a narrative slant and revealing her natural inclination towards images which evoke a sense of place or sometimes disquiet.
Louise gained a BA Hons in Illustration from Chelsea School of Art and an MA from the Royal College of Art. She taught Art and Design in London for 30 years before settling in East Devon.
