Jo Golesworthy
Jo Golesworthy’s sculptures represent the intricate and unique forms of pollen grains, normally invisible to the naked eye.
Choosing mainly native wild flowers and plants she uses technical, photographic reference magnifying the forms of the pollen grains up to 17,000 times. Jo builds up the sculptures by piecing together several forms cast in limestone compound, made from her original sculpture moulds. Each pollen is hand formed and individual, conceived at a size which allows us to appreciate these masterpieces of nature.
The pollen grain sculptures of common flora are suitable for positioning indoors or outdoors as they are frostproof.
Jo works her studio near Honiton in Devon and exhibits in the South West of England. She works to commission on sculptures of particular pollen at various sizes.
