Peter Clayton’s work is inspired by travels and his local environment. Amongst other landscape subjects he celebrates woodland environments; coastal pinewoods, Lakeland forests, local woodland and the trees of urban parks. Using watercolour, acrylic and mixed media he makes images which may sometimes be representational and sometimes move towards abstraction.

His practice encompasses an array of media; painting, printmaking, collage and mural painting. In the past he has collaborated with artists working in other disciplines, musicians, film-makers and fabric artists.

Peter has been based in Leicester since the mid ‘80s, having graduated in Fine Art from Lancaster in ’81. He exhibits widely throughout the UK and his work held in public and private collections.
