Libby has a passion for using unusual combinations of materials in experimental making processes, resulting in fascinating, thought provoking jewellery. The tactile nature of her work aims to connect people with textures and reflect on their perception of preciousness via materials.

“I always knew I wanted to make, but never intended becoming a jeweller. I allow experimentation to lead my development and explore composition. My processes often have an uncontrollable aspect, which I find exciting.”

By using chemical processes like electroforming, etching and patination she is able to create a biological inspired surface. This is combined with natural materials, which have been rehabilitated with silicones, resins and latex.

Libby graduated from Staffordshire University and has received recognition within the Crafts industry, she now works as part of a collective called fourMAKERS  in an open workshop based at the recently regenerated Middleport pottery in Stoke-on-Trent.

Libby's work will be featured in the exhibition In Quiet Reverie, 3 June - 8 July 2017
