Sunlight floods the countryside and sea, illuminating and warming Richard Adams’ scenes of honest labour and simple pleasure. Filled with references to an earlier age, Adams’ paintings are romantic in essence, treading lightly into the mystical and offering an escape from the here and now. The detail and complexity of his images demand time to look into them, to slow to their rhythm and find both rhyme and reason in his fantasy.

He is accompanied this year by Dean Patman whose sculpture imaginatively repurposes found objects.
