Lee was born in King's Lynn in 1980. He is a self-taught artist, he began drawing in detail from a very young age and it has remained a passion ever since.
Lee paints on canvas in oils and acrylics, usually at a large scale. Isolating his subject within a broader landscape he often chooses an abandoned or derelict building and provokes a mood of unease, disturbance or bewilderment through the detail in his subject and the play of light. His lone trees are in contrast more majesterial.
In recent years Lee has exhibited in Norfolk, Cambridge, Amsterdam, Dublin, London and New York. In the summer of 2015 Lee exhibited in the galleries at Dismaland curated by Banksy.
“I hope to achieve a sense of drama in my work. Presenting a familiar image yet placing it in an intimate and moody setting. A narrative is very important – but intentionally never fully explained. I like to leave it for the viewer to come up with their own interpretation.”
